Yes folks...you read that correctly. The New Jersey/California Soormey Franchise defeated the Vancouver Fun Police to become the first US team to win the Vancouver National tournament. The Fun Police came out of retirement for another title run but met a talented and up and coming U.S. team determined to unseat the 5 time champions.

 Here are some thoughts from tournament coordinator Sim Sahi.

"What an amazing tourney. As a fan...I've never seen anything better. It was a great weekend of ball. From the the Final Elite 8 game to the Men's Final...just some amazing games in front of a packed house.

Fun Police beats Wolfpack by 1 in the Elite 8.
NJ/Cali beats Bandits by 3 in the Final 4.
Fun Police beats TBA by 1 in the Final 4.
Reema hits 2 free throws with 0.4seconds left to help Mission Desiness win the Women's Championship by 1.
NJ/Cali beats Fun Police to become the first non-BC team to ever win the Vancouver National Championship.

Congratulations to NJ/Cali Soormey Franchise. They brought their 'A' game on Sunday and were the best team. Beating the Shox, Bandits and Fun Police is no small feat. As an organizer...it was great to see these kids celebrate. They were extremely joyful, yet very gracious winners. And that's what SPORT is all about. To put on an event and see the reaction of these young guys...there's nothing more as an organizer that I can ask for.

I think an American team winning our tourney is the best thing that could've happened for IPB and our tourney. The talk on this board is going to carry us to Chicago. Momentum is the hardest thing to attain and the easiest thing to lose for any individual or organization. I know the boards will be cooking over the next little bit which is what IPB needed."
