FINAL 4
Outsiders over Dragons 79-75.
Don’t you just hate the saying: "Payback is a B****!!!!!"
In week 1, the Dragons steal a victory over the Outsiders with a buzzer beater. In the Final 4, the Outsiders come out with only one thing on their mind, "REVENGE"; and revenge is what they got defeating the Dragons by 4.
From the start it looked like the Outsiders were going to cruise to victory, scoring at will every time down the court. But you know how it is with the Dragons, even if you’re up 15, they will find a way to claw back. With a minute left in the first, Outsiders were up 30-20. Instead of slowing it down, Outsiders kept trying to pour it on. Unfortunately, they started missing and the Dragons started executing. In a matter of 60 seconds the a ten point lead changed to a three point lead. Ladies and Gentlemen, we now have a ball game.
As the second half began the Outsiders came backfiring, but this time the Dragons were right with them scoring each time down as well. If anyone saw the Phoenix/Seattle game last night, you know what I’m talking about. The Outsiders did a good job of containing Adam in the first half but in the second half he turned it up a notch and dropped 18. He led all scorers with 24.
With two minutes left in the game, I was about to close the books and pencil in the Outsiders for the Championship game, until Billy "The Hot Head" Thachet went bizerk. Screaming and yelling at refs because of a call he didn’t get. Next thing you know, the Dragons are shooting 4 FT’s and they get the ball. In a 10-second span, the Dragons had their first lead of the game. Was this going to be the end of the Outsiders season? NOPE !!!!! The tandem of Axay and Jimmy would not let that happen and the Outsiders prevail. Axay and Jimmy score 20 and 15 respectively. It was a great game. Hats off to both teams. OUTSIDERS move on to the Championship game.
Untouchables over Quiet Storm 59-51.
Just like the first game, "REVENGE" was on the minds of the Untouchables as well. This was pretty much a seesaw battle from the start. But, it wasn’t Brian Park doing all the scoring this time, it was his sidekicks Nelson and Rich keeping the Storm in the game. The Untouchables did a great job containing Brian the whole game, in-turn, they came out with an eight-point victory. Shonek led all scorers with 19. Yeah, yeah, the recap of this game wasn’t as interesting as the first game, but the most exciting thing about this game was the delay of game technical the Untouchables got. Now you see were I’m coming from?
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Outsiders over Untouchables 64-57.
Although the score shows a seven-point victory, the Outsiders pretty much cruised to victory without ever looking back. This game had a little too much one-on-one basketball, which went in favor of the Outsiders. It almost looked like a competition as to who is the "BEST GUARD IN CHICAGO", with Shonek and Roger going at it all night long. But if you look at the stats, Shonek got his with 17, but Roger dropped a bomb and scored a total of 29 to lead all scorers. There was no stopping him. He scored almost every time he touched the ball. Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for the Untouchables, there is no " I " in TEAM. But I’m sure Roger is saying, " there is a ‘I’ in WIN !!!!!!!!!!!
Alright well that’s a wrap for our 7th season. I just want to thank the refs, staff, and all nine teams for making this a success. We will try to add one more Asian team next season, which should start in April. See ya’ll soon.
